Allison Brand

I work on distribution grid modeling under my mentor Alyona Teyber. The end goal for the software is a free, open source resource for electric utilities to use to proactively identify weaknesses and understand the impacts of additional renewable resources in grid operation.  I'm focusing on the structural loading model for utility poles and improving code readability and documentation. I've been verifying the logic of equations for forces on utility poles and integrating pole geocoordinate data to calculate pole spacing, which impacts weight of the lines, wind on the lines, and tension. I've been adding the comments to source code, making variable names more descriptive, and filling in documentation.
